The former Morton Ranch High School teacher is charged with improper relationship with a student

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A former Morton Ranch High School teacher has been arrested for allegedly engaging in an inappropriate relationship with student at the school.

Daimon Sweet, 44, faces a second-degree felony for improper relationship between educator and student. Sweet is accused of carrying on a relationship with a 17-year-old female student. Katy ISD says administrators started this investigation after receiving an anonymous letter on may 15. Sweet resigned immediately on May 19.

Sweet taught world history at Morton Ranch High. Sweet was also the interim boys basketball coach and took the Morton Ranch team to the playoffs last year.

The district sent a letter home to parents reading in part:

Sweet is being held on a $30,000 bond. He's set to face a judge on the felony charges this Friday.
