Houston Independent School District approves 2018 school calendar

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Parents of Houston Independent School District students can start making summer vacation plans.

The school board approved next year's school calendar.

The start date is Aug. 27, 2018. The last day will be May 31, 2019, which is after Memorial Day weekend.

Thanksgiving will be a full week again.

HISD will have a fall holiday on Sept. 10 and a spring holiday on April 19.
