Free lunch for thousands of HISD students, regardless of income

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- As students return to class for a new school year, thousands of kids at several HISD schools will notice a big change - free lunch.

The district is now offering free lunch at 166 campuses in the 2014-15 school year, regardless of family income - no applications required. The free meals are part of the growth of the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010.
