WILMINGTON, NC (KTRK) -- A 10-year-old boy is making a very big impression after he set out to take the burden of paying for school supplies off his mother.
This summer, Tyran Bell has been aggressively looking for lawns to mow in Wilmington, North Carolina in hopes of paying for everything he needs this school year.
"He came up with the idea like, 'Mama, I wanna mow grass so I can pay for my school supplies and my school clothing,'" mother Tara Lewis says.
Lewis says she is proud of her son for setting out to be his own man.
"Not too many kids his age are willing to go out and make his own money," Lewis says. "I am very blessed because he's very helpful, and he's a smart kid."
His mother isn't the only one taking notice.

Theresa Babb, owner of A1 Security Services, says she was moved by the 10-year-old's Facebook post and has rallied the community to help.
Neighbors have been dropping off clothing and school supplies for Tyran at Babb's business, but the student says he is still going to work for the money.
The extra donations, he says, will go to help other kids in need, proving he not only knows the importance of a hard day's work, but giving back, too.
