BEAUMONT, TX -- A Southeast Texas school district taken over this spring by the state amid financial and operational concerns violated attendance reporting rules for 2012-2013.

The Beaumont Independent School District said Tuesday it would not dispute results of the Texas Education Agency audit.

The review found problems including some absent students counted as present, for alleged funding purposes. Districts receive about $35 per student in attendance, per day, from the state.

The Beaumont Enterprise reports it was the district's third TEA review. The first two reports criticized BISD for lax financial controls and treatment of special education students. Pending reports are expected to focus on allegations of cheating on state exams.

The TEA in April announced publicly elected school board members were being replaced by managers, who then removed some administrators.
