HOUSTON (KTRK) -- As Houstonian Michael Strahan prepares to be inducted into the NFL Hall of Fame, bands from his alma maters are hoping to be a part of the ceremony in Canton, Ohio.
Strahan is a proud graduate of Texas Southern University, and has helped that school's band come up with the money for the trip to Ohio.
Westbury High School's band also intends to join the celebration for one of their most famous graduates. For band director Reginald Washington, this event is a really big deal for his musicians.
"This is something completely different for them," he said. "It's a once in a lifetime (opportunity)."
The band has raised most of the nearly $45,000 they need to cover the trip, but they're still hoping for the last push. If you would like to help, the band is accepting donations via fundly.com/westbury-high-school-band.
