Youth baseball team honors teammate's memory
Jason Frost was killed in a boating accident over the summer

KINGWOOD, TX (KTRK) -- An All-Star team in Kingwood is carrying on the love of the game for one of their fallen teammates.

Jason Frost, 9, died in a boating accident on Lake Conroe over the summer. The 2-boat collision also killed Jason's mother, Kristina Frost and her sister, Leilani Cole and injured local country singer Josh Ward. Jason loved baseball so now what would have been his team is named for him.

"We are the Kingwood Frost," Head Coach, Dan Goss, told Eyewitness News.

It's just one gesture. The boys also wear #4 -- Jason's number on their uniforms.

"So we can play in his honor and always keep him with us on the field," Goss continued.

The accident was July 2. Despite his loss, Jason's father, Chris, is also a coach.

"Yeah, yeah. It's tough it's tough being out here," Frost admitted in his first interview since his son's death.

He says sometimes he struggles just to show up at a practice to coach the 13 boys. He and his son had a common love for the game, but he is flattered by the special honor and the way Jason has been memorialized.

"I miss Jason. I loved him very much. He was my little boy and we're out here to honor him."

If you would like to help the team carry on Jason's love, there is both a Facebook page and gofundme site with information.
