LITTLE ELM, Texas (KTRK) -- A north Texas school district is letting kids be kids.
Little Elm ISD, in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, is the first in the nation to test giving children recess four times a day.
It's happening under a new program from Texas Christian University called Let's Inspire Innovation and Kids, or LiiNK.
The idea is to give kids four 15-minute recess breaks through the day, which would mean two before lunch and two after.
Researchers believe the extra playtime away from class helps students focus better and decreases their anxiety and stress.
