HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Northwest Mall is closing all but five of its stores.
It was first reported in 2014 that the nearly 800,000-square-foot mall, which sits on over 50 acres of land near the U.S. Highway 290 and Loop 610 interchange, was up for sale.
A Northwest Mall spokesperson told the Houston Business Journal that the mall, which was built in 1968, will close all of the interior stores on March 31.

The following stores have exterior entrances and will remain open: Palais Royal, Thompson Antique Center, The College of Healthcare Professions, Post Oak Club and Chapa.
Brick and mortar stores have been struggling for the past few years as they face increasing competition from online sales.
