Police: Woman leaves child in car to go to night club

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A 24-year-old woman is accused of leaving her three-yearold son alone in a hot car so she could go to a night club.

According to information presented at a court hearing, Uzma Sheikh tried to get into Stetson's Nightlife Friday night with her three-year-old child, but officers working the door told her she couldn't come in.

The woman reappeared at the door without the child and told the officers a friend picked up the child, according to the Harris County District Attorney's Office. A county prosecutor said officers became suspicious of her story and searched the parking lot where they found the child in the back seat of a car with the engine off.

Sheikh is charged with endangering a child and is out on a $2,000 bond.
