SWAT moves in on Montrose-area apartment, but assault suspect gone, police say

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- A man accused of assaulting his girlfriend was nowhere to be found inside a Montrose-area apartment, putting an end to an hourslong SWAT operation.

Officers moved in on an apartment unit on Stanford Street off the Allen Parkway late Thursday afternoon, only to find no one inside, according to Houston police.

Hours earlier, before noon, police received a report of an assault in the area.

According to HPD, when police arrived, the suspect refused to come out, and SWAT officers responded.

Police believed no one other than the suspect was inside before they went in.
