16-year-old boy dies in accidental shooting in home in The Woodlands, Montgomery Co. deputies say

THE WOODLANDS, Texas (KTRK) -- A shooting that killed a 16-year-old boy overnight is being investigated as accidental, according to the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office.

During the early morning hours on Thursday, at about 4:04 a.m., deputies said they responded to a home on Redberry Court in The Woodlands after receiving reports of a shooting.

Patrol units arrived minutes later and began life-saving measures on the boy, but he was pronounced dead at the scene, MCSO said.

A friend and a sibling of the 16-year-old were reportedly at the home at the time of the shooting, which the sheriff's office said is investigating as accidental.

Deputies said there is no threat to the public and the case will be referred to the district attorney's office as the investigation continues.



The victim's identity is not being released as additional family members are being notified.
