THE WOODLANDS, Texas (KTRK) -- A 17-year-old boy is charged with criminally negligent homicide in an accidental shooting that left a 16-year-old boy dead on Thursday, according to the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies say that Easton J. Spoklie, 17, was arrested on Thursday. Spoklie is currently in custody at the Montgomery Cunty Jail.

During the early morning hours on Thursday, at about 4:04 a.m., deputies said they responded to a home on Redberry Court in The Woodlands after receiving reports of a shooting.

A friend and a sibling of the 16-year-old were reportedly at the home at the time of the shooting, which the sheriff's office said is being investigated as accidental.

Deputies said there is no threat to the public and the case will be referred to the district attorney's office as the investigation continues.
