Updated 10 minutes ago
BELLAIRE, Texas (KTRK) -- Crews are working to restore water to Bellaire High School and multiple residents in the area after a pipe burst on Tuesday morning, according to city officials.

The City of Bellaire told ABC13 there was a major water main break at 10 a.m. at S. Rice Avenue and Pine Street along a pre-existing water line project. As a result, Bellaire High School and Horn Elementary were without water.

Water has been restored at Horn Elementary School, and crews are working to restore water for the high school, city officials said.

Bellaire High School sent the following statement in a message sent to parents through the Parent Square app:

Important message for Bellaire HS families from Principal Niggli: Our campus is currently without water due to a busted pipe in the area.

We continue working closely with District maintenance teams and the City of Bellaire to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.

Bottled water is being delivered to campus, and students will be served a hot lunch, with emergency meal options available if needed. Students remain safe, and we will continue to provide updates as information becomes available.

At this time, it's still unclear how long it will take to complete repairs.

ABC13 will continue to update this story as more details become available.
