All the top 10 zip codes for foreclosures in the Houston area had more than 500 foreclosures over that period, according to the data.
The zip code 77327 in Cleveland, Texas, has had 8,189 foreclosures between 2020 and 2025, with an annual average of foreclosures of 1,365, according to data analyzed by the ABC News data team.
7 of the top 10 ZIP codes for foreclosures in the Houston area are in Harris County, according to the data.
ABC News' Senior Manager of Data Team, Mark Nichols, explained some of the issues plaguing people not only in the Houston area but nationwide.
"Some of it has to do with rising taxes, property taxes that go into the mortgage payment they make every month. Some of it has to do with buying homes with risky loans," Nichols said.
Nichols and his team are analyzing 2026 data to see if the trends are continuing.
"I've started to look into 2026 data on foreclosures and the trends we've seen over the 6-year period that we looked at in our analysis through 2025. Those trends are continuing," Nichols said.
