Shelter-in-place lifted in Texas City after fire breaks out at Marathon refinery, officials say

TEXAS CITY, Texas (KTRK) -- No injuries were reported after a fire broke out at the Marathon refinery on Saturday afternoon, according to officials.

The Texas Office of Emergency Management notified residents about the fire at 12:44 p.m. and said officials were investigating the matter.

The shelter-in-place was ordered for residents north of the Marathon refinery from 21st to Bay Street, but was lifted around 2:14 p.m.

It is unclear how the fire began, however, officials did confirm there were no injuries reported.
