According to HPD, the shooting happened at around 10:20 p.m., when four people in a car drove alongside the two men, who were walking down the street eating ice cream. That's when, police said, at least one person in the car opened fire on the victims.
One man was shot in the side of the stomach, and the other was shot in the arm, HPD said in a late-night briefing.
The two men were transported to a local hospital, where HPD said they were listed in stable condition.
The search to find everyone involved is ongoing, police said.
"Our officers were patrolling the 6100 block of West Tidwell, looking for the suspects when they found one suspect nearby. We have one suspect detained. He's given us info about the vehicle and the other suspects. So right now, they're interviewing him," HPD Lieutenant Pulido said.
Investigators told ABC13 they believe the incident was isolated, and there is no ongoing threat to the public.
