Man killed after fight at party escalates into shooting in west Harris County, deputies say

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) -- One man is dead after an altercation at a party in west Harris County turned into a fatal shooting on Sunday, deputies said.

According to the Harris County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to a report of a fight with shots fired in the 24800 block of Dutton Point at midnight.

At the scene, deputies said they found 42-year-old Darius Phillips dead with gunshot wounds.

HCSO detectives said a party was underway when a large fight broke out among several individuals, including Phillips and the shooter.

During the fight, the suspect, described as a man in his 40s, grabbed a gun and shot the victim before firing at the other party guests, deputies said.



Deputies said he then fled the scene and was gone before they arrived.

Detectives are working to identify the suspected gunman.
