Man killed in deadly shooting in southwest Houston apartment complex, according to police

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Police said an investigation is underway after a man was killed in a deadly shooting at an apartment complex in southwest Houston early Monday morning.

According to the Houston Police Department, officers responded to a shooting call at about 2:15 a.m. on Monday at an apartment complex at 9707 South Gessner Road. When officers arrived, they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound near the parking lot, authorities said.

Officials said that Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and took the victim to a nearby hospital. He was later pronounced dead, according to police.

Investigators said the identity of the victim is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

According to HPD, there are currently no known suspects, and an investigation is underway.
