HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) -- The Harris County Sheriff's Office says 40-year-old Krystal Degeyter was found dead on Sierra Blanca Drive, near the corner of Highway 6 and the West Park Tollway, on Friday night. Now, a man is facing charges, accused not of her murder, but of tampering with evidence.

Just before 8 p.m. last Friday, court documents state Degeyter arrived with her boyfriend, brother, and 10-year-old daughter so her boyfriend could sell a gun to the owner of the washateria on Sierra Blanca Drive, 35-year-old Trung Doan.

In a probable cause document, it's alleged that Doan took the gun into a second vehicle, a truck, where it discharged. Court documents state the bullet hit Degeyter in the head, killing her. Law enforcement that night also told Eyewitness News there was some sort of altercation before the shot was fired, but law enforcement isn't releasing any new details.

The sheriff's office responded to the 911 call on Friday and told ABC13 that night that Degeyter's boyfriend and brother were cooperating with law enforcement. Now, court documents allege that Doan was not.

Doan is accused of lying to law enforcement, saying his business didn't have video surveillance despite his business being covered in cameras and signs warning people that they are on camera. Documents state Doan hid a DVR, concealed a truck, and lied to investigators when he told them there was another buyer for the gun whom he had dropped off elsewhere after the shooting.

Doan later admitted he lied about the truck, DVR, and second buyer, records show. He was arrested and charged with two counts of tampering with evidence on Monday.

ABC13 called a phone number posted inside the business. A woman answered the phone and confirmed her name. She claimed to be a family friend watching the store until Doan was out of jail, and that she knew nothing. Court documents show she is Doan's wife.
