Man makes false report of gun at Conroe High School after being pulled over for speeding, MCSO says

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) -- A man has been arrested for allegedly making a false report that someone had a firearm at Conroe High School during a routine traffic stop on Tuesday morning, according to the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office.

MCSO said deputies were in the 1000 block of FM 830 when they noticed a driver traveling at a high rate of speed through a school zone.

The driver was pulled over, MCSO said he told deputies that the reason he was speeding was that there was a student at Conroe High School with a gun who was involved in an altercation with his son, who is also a student at the school.

This led to additional law enforcement responding to the school, including Conroe ISD Police, Montgomery County Constable Precincts 1 and 2, the Texas Department of Public Safety, and the Conroe Fire Department.

Officials secured the school and determined that there was no threat; the student in question was safe, and the school verified that no firearm was present on campus.



MCSO said the driver, 39-year-old Nathaniel Ellis, was arrested for making a false claim. MCSO said it was also kearned that Ellis had two open felony warrants.

Making a false claim in Texas is punishable by law and is considered a felony.
