In May, the Texas Commission on Jail standards issued a notice following an inspection.
The state said there were missing locks on multiple units, missing intercoms for communication, damaged lighting, and the smoke management system was not working.
Sheriff Bobby Rader says work is underway.
"Coming along judge, again our fire restoration is completed except for the two doors," the sheriff said at a recent commissioner's court meeting. "Our door locks they arrived on July 15th and that company is working 12 hours a day - 7 days a week."
Those are far from the only problems. In April of last year, a fire at the jail sent 5 correctional officers to the hospital.
The sheriff's office telling ABC13 at the time, an investigation uncovered the fire started after a lighting issue caused papers to ignite.
The state also ordered the jail to shut down last year, but the county appealed and stayed open, and just two months before, an hours long riot broke out at the jail last February.
However, this February, state officials approved building a new $100 million jail for the county to help with overcrowding.
