As you may recall, the Houston Avenue Bridge has been struck multiple times in the last few months, with the previous three instances occurring in September alone. In total, it has been hit nearly 69 times, officials confirm.
The closures are in major spots, starting inbound on with the I-10 Katy Freeway from Shepherd Drive to Durham Drive, and extending to Houston Avenue.
The second area of impact will be from Antoine Drive to Shepherd Drive, where four lanes will be closed.

To get around the closures, drivers can take the I-610 North Loop or the Eastex Freeway.
The bridge repairs will take place until Monday, 5 a.m. on September 15, according to TxDOT.

The bridge is expected to be replaced as part of the White Oak Bayou elevation project, which is designed to reduce flooding along the freeway, according to TxDOT plans. This area will be under construction through the end of 2028 or early 2029.
