BRAZORIA COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) -- A suspect died after being shot by law enforcement near the Creepy Hollow Haunted House in Brazoria County on Thursday morning, according to authorities.

The Brazoria County Sheriff's Office said a woman called for help, saying a male suspect was heading toward her home.

Investigators believe the woman was romantically involved with the suspect.

Deputies found the suspect's vehicle when he was turning into her neighborhood, which led to a high-speed chase, according to the sheriff's office.

Investigators said during the chase, the suspect went the wrong way and crashed into a wooded area along the Highway 288 feeder road near Valley Vista Drive.

The suspect then got out of the vehicle armed with a knife, and at least two deputies fired shots, hitting him, according to authorities.

SkyEye was positioned above the busy scene, where multiple law enforcement officers with emergency lights were stationed along the southbound feeder.

The sheriff's office said the suspect was rushed to the hospital, where he died. Authorities said the suspect had open warrants for assault.
