"Today when I was leaving it was very somber, it was different, the city was very different," said passenger, Veronica Georgandis.
Southwest Houston resident Gatane Pauwels, a woman of French descent, reflected on all the family she has in Europe.

"My favorite cousin is in Nice," she said, "I have a lot family from my mother's side in France, Paris, Nice and Cannes."

She's saddened that the state of heightened alert in France, a country so precious to her, may become the new normal.
"I'm afraid that when I go to France there will be more military, which is what shocked me last time. The military everywhere -- you go to the Eiffel Tower and there's military there," said Pauwels.
