HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) -- Authorities are looking for a person described as suspicious who was wearing a Michael Myers 'Halloween' style mask near the scene of a deadly shooting in northwest Harris County, investigators told ABC13 on Friday.

The shooting happened on Halloween night, at about 11:15 p.m., on Hawks Nest Drive near March Creek Drive.

Investigators say they got several calls, one from one of the victim's young daughters, after hearing several shots.

They say the man was outside in the garage when someone shot him several times. Two of his two young children were inside the house at the time and were not hurt. A third child, a toddler, was with a relative and was not home at the time of the shooting.

The family has identified the man as 38-year-old Eric Pait Jr.

According to authorities, neighbors reported seeing a suspicious man in a Michael Myers mask.

Detectives are looking into whether that man is the shooter, but offered no other details about him. The investigation into the shooting and the motive is ongoing.

A sergeant with the Harris County Sheriff's Office did tell ABC13's Courtney Fischer that the man's estranged wife, who is also the mother of the children, was murdered at her apartment in Harris County back in August.

Authorities say he was a person of interest in her murder.

The Harris County Sheriff's Office says the investigation into her murder is still open and active and that detectives are working to figure out if there's a connection between the two cases.

Meanwhile, Pait's mother told ABC13 that she is taking care of the three children, 10 and 12-year-old girls and a 2-year-old little boy. She is also hoping for justice for both her son and for Carman, who she says was like a daughter to her.
