After a historic winter storm in southeast Texas, both airports suspended flight operations on Tuesday at midnight.
Security will open at 9 a.m., Arrivals opens at 10 a.m., and Departures opens at 11 a.m.
Travelers should contact their airlines for rebooking options.
According to the airport system, Hobby had no stranded passengers overnight, but about 100 people were in the IAH terminals Monday night. The airport provided them with cots and amenity kits.
Houston Airport System director said they began preparing last week and treated the runways before the winter storm. Teams will remain on site 24/7 during the storm.
The airport system also said it owns and uses deicing equipment that can spray, spread, and sweep a deicing treatment on the airfield and protect the water sources that service aircraft, such as a water spigot for airplane maintenance.
When asked about getting additional equipment for future weather events, airport system officials said they are confident in the equipment they have.
