Man found dead on East Freeway in east Houston, Houston police say

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- A man found dead near the East Freeway led to an investigation on Monday morning, Houston police said.

The Houston Police Department said officers responded to a person-down call at about 8:40 a.m. after a man's body was found in the 2700 block of East Freeway near Jensen Drive.

Officials said the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Initially, HPD told ABC13 that the man was found with gunshot wounds. In an update, police told Eyewitness News that the man did not have gunshot wounds and that there were no signs of a hit-and-run or foul play.

Authorities have not released the victim's identity at this time. Officials said the medical examiner will identify the victim and determine the cause of death.



Police said the investigation remains ongoing.
