Officers said they responded to a shooting in the area of Bellaire Boulevard and South Rice Avenue around 3 a.m. Saturday. They reported finding three agitated men in the parking lot of a Chevron gas station.
"Those males had been involved in an altercation with a car with other males, a gray Honda," Bellaire Police Chief Onesimo Lopez said. "That second carload of males fled westbound on Bellaire Boulevard."
Lopez said that officers apprehended the suspects in the other vehicle at the 5320 block of Bellaire Boulevard, not far from where the shooting took place.
Two of the men were attending to a third male who suffered from multiple gunshot wounds, Bellaire PD said. They added that despite CPR efforts, the man was pronounced dead by paramedics at the scene. The identity of the man is not being released at this time.
Bellaire PD said that while the circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation, preliminary information suggests an exchange of gunfire may have occurred between the two parties.
