The Harris County Sheriff's Office said the shooting happened at about 7:15 p.m. in the parking lot of the Sierra at Fall Creek apartments on Bellows Falls Lane near the North Beltway.
After receiving multiple 911 calls about the shooting, HCSO says deputies arrived and found a man shot in the front seat of a black SUV. He reportedly died at the scene.
The sheriff's office said deputies detained several people for questioning and interviewed multiple witnesses, including two people who they say were inside the car when the shooting happened.
911 callers also reported that a black SUV was involved and saw two men fleeing the scene.
Investigators said they obtained surveillance video that captured the incident and were able to develop a suspect vehicle along with two suspects.
The medical examiner's office is confirming the victim's identity and cause of death, the sheriff's office said.
