Man shot, killed during argument at homeless camp in east Harris County, sheriff's office says

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- A death investigation is underway after shots were fired at a homeless camp in east Harris County Monday afternoon.

The Harris County Sheriff's Office said the shooting happened at around noon behind a convenience store in the 700 block of Sheldon Road.

Investigators believe two people who knew each other were involved in some type of alteration, possibly involving property.

The sheriff's office said one person shot a man in his 40s and stayed at the scene until deputies arrived.

The man in his 40s died from his gunshot wounds, according to deputies. Investigators believe he possibly was armed as well.



No charges have been filed, and authorities said they're talking to several witnesses.
