The Harris County Sheriff's Office said the incident occurred after midnight on Sunday, while a man was riding a bike westbound on Wallisville Road.
According to HCSO, the victim, identified as Felton Joseph, was riding on an unimproved shoulder north of the roadway without the appropriate lighting on his bike.
That's when deputies said someone in an unknown-color 2013-2015 Nissan Altima going west on Wallisville Road failed to drive in a single lane, exited the roadway, and hit the bicyclist from behind.
HCSO said the Nissan driver fled and did not stop to render aid.
First responders arrived and found the victim dead, the sheriff's office said.
Authorities said the crash remains under investigation.
