The Houston Fire Department responded to the call of a fire at about 10:38 p.m. along Bob White Drive on Saturday.
The fire department said when they initially searched the home, they didn't see anyone inside, but found a body under debris during a second search of the building.
According to HFD, the dog was discovered dead in a crate under the stairs at the scene.
Fire officials say that there was heavy fire on two floors, coming out of the front and side of the home.
People who witnessed the flames told ABC13 how quickly it erupted.
"That fire was just, it was just gone in the matter of seconds. Everything went up in flames," Christopher Bonney said.
Neighbors told ABC13 that they heard screams and said a couple lived at the home where the woman died.
"I was shocked yeah, like wow. I just saw this lady the other day," neighbor Darrel Willis said.
Willis says the victim always greeted him and people in their community. He never imagined flames would take over someone's home.
"I want to say about 25 years and nothing like this," Willis said.
The damage also impacted nearby units from the inside to the outside.
At this time, the identity of the victim remains unknown. The cause of the fire still remains under investigation.
