Thirty-three-year-old Sonia Heredia, a former paraprofessional at Northbrook, was arrested and charged with an alleged improper relationship with a student.
Heredia posted her $5,000 bond before her court appearance.
According to court documents, a co-worker said she noticed Heredia had hickeys on her back when they attended the Pride Parade in downtown Houston back in June. The co-worker stated that Heredia said she was flirting with a young guy and giggled at her cell phone.
The co-worker who spoke with officials stated Heredia then admitted she was communicating with a rising senior at Northbrook and was "already in love," court documents state.
The student's age is unclear, but documents read that the co-worker said Heredia told her he was 18.
Court records said Heredia initially was not truthful about the nature of her relationship with the student but later confessed. According to her, the relationship began this past summer.
According to the student, the two exchanged numbers, began to communicate, and would spend time together outside of school. Documents stated they would go to parks or out to eat.
When asked if the relationship was sexual, the student admitted to it and said the encounters were consensual, court documents read. The student admitted to liking the school employee, and the two would go to his sister's apartment for sex, documents said.
According to the district, Heredia was immediately removed from her position after receipt of the allegations before the beginning of the school year.
In a release sent by the district, if the allegations are true, the district said it urges the justice system to take proper action.
