HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Two dozen local World War II veterans are back home from a special trip to see the National Memorial of their service.
Dozens of people greeted these World War II vets this evening at Hobby Airport. The veterans were taken to Washington D.C. by Honor Flight Houston to visit the World War II Memorial.
One veteran said he was overwhelmed by the show of gratitude.
"I personally don't think I deserve this kind of thing because I went into the service because I love my country and I thought I could do something for it," said World War II veteran Harry Grantz.
Honor Flight Houston and other similar organizations work year round to help World War II vets visit the World War II Memorial.
