Susan D. Sarofim, Woman of Distinction

Sarofim[/b][br /][Ads /][br /]Susan D. Sarofim's diverse career has operated on high-octane intensity from the beginning. Once a competitive race car driver, she developed Brooke Staffing Companies in 1989, a national temporary employment service. In 2012 she became owner and CEO of New Orleans Auction Galleries, recognized as the South's premier auction house. Houston has been home to Susan since 2005 when the wake of Hurricane Katrina relocated her family from New Orleans. Susan's goals are focused on making winning changes for the community through her professional and philanthropic efforts. Seeing a need, she co-founded TEACH to provide HISD educators the skills to teach at-risk students. She is a member of the Houston Community College Foundation Board, board president for the Memorial Hermann Foundation since 2015 and, from 2009-2012, Susan served on the Labor and Health Advisory Council for the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta. Since 2009, Sarofim chaired or co-chaired the Greater Houston Women's Chamber of Commerce Gala; Memorial Hermann's Circle of Life Gala; the Hermann Park Conservatory Gala; the Houston Humane Society No-Gala; the Ballet Nutcracker Market Luncheon Fashion Show and the Nutcracker Market Preview Party. Susan has been honored by the Citizens for Animal Protection, Sight into Sound, Moores School of Music and Houston Community College, and received The Houston Chronicle Best Dressed Award in 2011, 2013 and 2016. Sarofim is the mother of three - daughters Lori Krohn Sarofim and Kelly Krohn, and son David, as well as grandmother to Lily and Serenella.
