WILLIS, TX (KTRK) -- A 58-year-old man is dead after an early morning fire engulfed his home.

The man's single-story wood framed home caught fire around 4am. Fire gutted the rear of the house in the 3800 block of Sam Houston Drive near Wyatt within minutes.

Firefighters say they found the mans body laying in the hallway of the home. The home did not have smoke detectors. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
