Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez tweeted around 6 a.m. Thursday that the woman is in critical condition. She's expected to survive.
The sheriff says that after the stabbing the woman's husband initially took her to the emergency room at Houston Methodist West hospital at 18500 Katy Freeway.
While she was at the hospital with her husband, authorities say he caused a disturbance and wasn't cooperating.
Officials believe he was drunk or on something else, leading to his arrest on suspicion of DWI.
Detectives are still working to figure out where the stabbing happened and what led up to it.
The woman's injuries were so serious, she was airlifted to another hospital.
The husband's name has not been released, and no official charges have been posted yet.
