HOUSTON (KTRK) -- The National Hurricane Center says Tropical Depression #9 has formed in the Bay of Campeche off Mexico's coast.

The winds are 35 miles per hour. But upper level winds to its east could prevent the storm from becoming stronger. Those same winds also are exptected to steer the storm over the Yucatan Peninsula, and away from the U.S.

You can follow the storm on our interactive tropical map.
