A cool and dry stretch through the weekend, low pressure could bring the return of showers next week.

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- In the wake of a strong cold front that moved through Thanksgiving Day, cool and dry weather will last through the weekend.

Temperatures Friday morning will start off in the 40s, and in some spots down to the upper 30s. It will be a gorgeous day with mostly sunny skies but even with all the sun, temperatures will only warm to about 60 degrees.

Will it stay colder through the weekend?

Yes, it will! We'll have some lovely weather Friday through the weekend with lows in the 40s, highs in the 60s, and plenty of sunshine coming through a deck of cirrus clouds.

When could we get more widespread rain?

A rainy area of low pressure looks to spin up off the Texas coastline after the weekend, bringing us a decent chance for rain Tuesday and Wednesday. Those showers could continue through Thursday and Friday, too. At this time we are anticipating about an inch of rain for most with higher amounts near the coast. The exact amount of rainfall and duration of the rain will depend on where the low forms and tracks.

When could we get our first freeze in Houston?

We aren't seeing any signs of freezing weather over the next 10 days, and long range projections now show only a low chance of a freeze for the first half of December. On average, Houston's first freeze occurs during the second week of December.
