Steamy days ahead for Houston, rain chance rises this weekend

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- As Barry's circulation moves farther away from Texas, our rain chance will continue to drop, but the steam will linger behind. Temperatures will again climb from the upper 70s into the mid-90s Wednesday. There's still a 20% chance you'll get an afternoon downpour, but most of us will be left dry.

The heat will crank up a notch as we get closer to the weekend with a less than 20 percent chance of rain Thursday and Friday. By Saturday, there's a 20% chance of an afternoon downpour.

Then something interesting happens next week. The remnant moisture of Barry will be making a loop back into Texas, and this will bring back a chance for scattered thunderstorm development. Because this moisture will stay entirely over land, there will be no tropical development. We simply expect more widespread summer thunderstorms that will bring a little heat relief to Houston area neighborhoods.
