HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Collin says the heat is coming. A ridge of high pressure building over Florida will move toward Texas later this week, increasing the heat and decreasing rain chances to near zero percent for several days.
Heat index values will peak between 100 and 105 degrees all week long, but the strong southeast breeze will help out a little. The persistent southeast wind will also lead to minor coastal flooding in low-lying spots through Thursday's high-tide cycle.
The heat ridge will back away from Houston after Memorial Day, bringing a slim chance for afternoon rain showers toward the end of next week.
