HOUSTON WEATHER: Scattered storms tonight, some strong

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Good evening! A few storms are going up across the area and we could see some more overnight. The main hazards will be lightning and brief heavy rain, and wind. No major severe weather is expected at this time.

A light cloud of African dust and rain chances are here for Father's Day in Houston. You might notice the sky looks a little gray today as the dust particles from the Sahara Desert blow overhead, but health impacts should be minimal given the light nature of this cloud.

Strong southerly winds will also boost the steam factor for Father's Day, bringing back a chance for afternoon downpours today. There's no need to cancel any outdoor plans right now, but you'll want to keep your eye on the radar as some of the scattered storms could become strong to severe.
