Texas man creates device to protect vehicles from hail
Last year in Texas, hail caused more than $4 billion in damages.

GUNTER, Texas (KTRK) -- More than $4 billion in damages were reported across Texas as a result of hail, but one man said he has a solution for people who are tired of their vehicles getting destroyed by it.

Michael Siciliano said he created a solution for hail damage. It's called the Hail Protector.

"I've just had vehicles that were damaged by hail and there was no solution on the market. And I figured it could solve it," Siciliano told WFAA.

The protection device might make your car look like a 2,000 pound baked potato, but Siciliano said it works.

"A lot of people thought I was nuts. There's some people that still think I'm nuts," he said. "But it's been successful because it's a serious problem and an effective solution."

The Hail Protector drapes your vehicle in a large inflatable cover. It's inflated by a remote control with power from an extension cord to your house, a 12V plug in your vehicle or even batteries.

Siciliano said it can deflect dozens of line-drive softballs, a 5-pound medicine ball, and it will even support up to 20 pounds of barbell weights placed on the vehicle.

The Hail Protectors range from $379 to $479, depending on the size of your vehicle.
