Could dry July bring August drought?

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- The lack of rain across Texas is allowing drought conditions to develop in some spots. Chief Meteorologist Tim Heller says 13% of Texas is dry and drought has returned to 2% of the state. None of southeast Texas is in a drought, but that could change if we don't get substantial rain soon.

Only .75" of rain has fallen at Bush Intercontinental Airport this month. The last widespread soaking rain for the Houston area was June 12. Showers have been sporadic and widely scattered since then.

Ironically, just eight weeks ago the Houston area was flooded by too much rain, a situation many families are still dealing with.
