Scary to watch: You can see the small dog dangling over the balcony while being stuck in a metal fence. Now, authorities need your help to keep this from happening to anyone else.

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Dramatic video shows a dog being rescued after being stuck in the fence of a balcony on the third floor of a Houston apartment, all in 100-degree weather.

The Houston SPCA released the video on Monday showing a Lhasa apso hanging over the balcony at an apartment complex in east Houston near Griggs Road.

The dog was wedged in the metal fence for hours, according to the SPCA, and was seen dangling over the edge. Authorities said the uncovered, outdoor patio registered 106 degrees as the dog was being rescued.

"Even though spring temperatures may seem mild to humans, leaving a pet outside in the direct sun can still have devastating consequences," said Adam Reynolds, the chief animal cruelty investigator with the Houston SPCA. "If you plan on leaving your home, please bring your pet inside to ensure their safety."

The dog is now at the Houston SPCA where he will be available for adoption soon.

The group reminds people to report cruelty through the Houston SPCA website or by calling 713-869-SPCA (7722).
