UH getting ready for what could be legacy game

ATLANTA, GA (KTRK) -- Big time bowl trips come with great opportunities on and off the field. The UH Cougars soaked it all up Tuesday at the Chick Fil-A Beach bowl.

The Cougars players had a busy day on Tuesday, visiting children at Scottish Rote Children's Hospital, making time for those in need.

They were also working on a game plan that will make them a championship caliber program once again.

"Being able to play in this big bowl in Atlanta, there's no better feeling, but at the same time, we're still focusing on our opponent," said UH linebacker Elandon Roberts.

The game could signal UH turning the corner and becoming a national powerhouse.

"You think about it, but at the same time, you can't get on those things that will get you off focus," said Roberts.

A win against Florida State could have lasting effects, especially considering the Cougars open against Oklahoma next season.

"Playing against a great opponent in Florida State with their tradition, going into next year creates a lot of momentum for us," said UH receiver Demarcus Ayers. "We've got a lot of guys coming back and things like that, so to create a lot of momentum going into next season and seeing where we are as a team and how we stack up against the big power five conferences, it's a great thing to see."

The game is Thursday at 11am on ESPN!
