TxDOT plans ahead for icy roads NYE weekend

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- According to TxDOT, crews will begin pre-treating bridges, overpasses and other key spots Friday in advance of an Arctic blast.

The crews will be spraying a brine mix, which will help with de-icing in case the Houston area is impacted by ice this weekend.

Crews are asking drivers and pedestrians to watch carefully and stay at least 200 feet back from road crews.
