Travel to Europe on the cheap
Go to Europe on the cheap. Patricia Lopez shows how.

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Summer Hull with www.mommypoints.com helped us with her top three ways to travel on the cheap to Europe.

1. Low cost carriers have popped up in the U.S. including Icelandair with affordable flights to Europe and Norwegian Air as well. Of course, both charge extra for everything like Spirit or Frontier do domestically, but they are dirt cheap. However, you may have to travel to one of their departure cities to take advantage of the lowest fares.

2. Follow on social media @theflightdeal as they share amazing deals many times a day, but you have to move quickly when they share something. For example, they shared $500 - $600 RT airfare to Asia recently from many cities, but that didn't last more than a few hours.

3. Use a flexible search engine like Google Flights www.google.com/flights to spot the cheapest times/destinations. For example, you can put in Houston - Europe for one week in March and it will tell you the cheapest cities to fly into.

Right now it is coming back with Istanbul from $560, Barcelona from $710, and Dublin from $766 as the cheapest in March from Houston. There are some cities that are traditionally cheaper than others, but to find the dirt cheap deals at any given time you really need to be flexible with how you get to Europe and then use the rail or cheap flights once you get there to make it to your preferred European destination.
