Revealed: The best credit cards and frequent flier programs for travelers
If you like to travel, these recommended programs and cards can take you places.

Planning on taking a trip in the spring? If you want to get the most miles, check out this comparison of some of the top frequent flier programs.

The list just came out by CardHub.com, and the best airline rewards program for frequent fliers is JetBlue.

Delta Airlines, however, is the top choice for average and light travelers.

United Airlines was the sixth best for frequent fliers, but came in second place for average fliers.

If you really want to maximize your rewards and get more earned flights for "free," you will need to double dip!

That means use the airline's frequent flier rewards program and couple that with a credit card that helps you get those points faster.

What about those airline credit cards? Which ones are the best?

A brand new report has the cards that can mean greater rewards and fewer fees.

The best credit card that is tied to an airline for frequent domestic travelers is the United Mileage Plus Explorer card. With this card, you earn double miles on United ticket purchases, then it's a mile per dollar spent on everything else. It also includes one free checked bag and priority boarding.

To earn travel rewards on participating airlines, the Chase Sapphire Preferred card will allow you to earn two points per dollar on dining and travel, one point per dollar on all other purchases.

Another top rated card by Consumer Reports is the Capital One Venture rewards credit card.

With this one, you get two times the miles per dollar on every purchase, the miles don't expire and when you sign up, the annual fee is waived the first year.
