Long Island woman charged with DWI with 2-year old boy in car

SHIRLEY, NY -- A Mastic Beach woman was arrested early Sunday morning and charged with driving while intoxicated with a 2-year old boy in her car.

At about 12:40 a.m., Suffolk County police officers were conducting a checkpoint on the ramp of eastbound Sunrise Highway at exit 58 south in Shirley when Julieann Klopfer was stopped at the checkpoint and evaluated.

Klopfer, 33, was found to be intoxicated and her fiance's son was in the backseat of her vehicle, a 1998 Mercedes, according to police.

Klopfer was charged with Driving While Intoxicated, Driving While Intoxicated with a Child Passenger 15 Years Old or Younger (Leandra's Law) and Endangering the Welfare of a Child.

Seven other drivers were issued traffic summonses at the checkpoint.
